Why Pokhara Hotels Need Their Own Website

For a hotel in Pokhara, a good website is more than an online brochure. It gives guests a direct way to check your rooms, understand your property and contact you without starting their booking on an online travel agency (OTA). Booking.com and similar platforms can help travellers discover your hotel, but commission reduces what you keep from every booking made through them.

Booking.com commission can range from 10% to 25%, with 15% a useful illustrative rate. Your actual rate depends on your agreement. A website gives you another booking channel, so you can encourage guests who find your property through search, referrals or repeat visits to enquire directly.

This is an illustrative comparison, not a forecast for any particular hotel. A 20-room property charging NPR 4,000 per room-night at 70% occupancy over 90 peak-season days would sell approximately 1,260 room-nights, generating NPR 5,040,000 in room revenue. If 40% of those room-nights came through Booking.com at 15% commission, the commission would be about NPR 302,400 over those 90 days. At the same room rate, seven direct one-night bookings per month would avoid approximately NPR 4,200 in commission, which is more than the Grow monthly plan at NPR 3,999. For comparison, a Standard Website at NPR 79,999 plus 12 months of the Grow plan at NPR 3,999 a month totals NPR 127,987. Your actual savings depend on your room rates, stay lengths, occupancy and the number of bookings that shift to your own website.

Seasonality matters too. September to November brings post-monsoon visitors and trekking traffic, while March to May is another busy period for visitors heading towards the Annapurna region. June to August is the monsoon period, when demand patterns may change. A typical build takes 2 to 4 weeks after the content is supplied, so a hotel aiming for the September to November season would normally begin in July. A direct website gives you a place to present seasonal offers, explain your rooms and answer booking questions throughout the year.

The booking process should also suit how your guests communicate. Many travellers enquire through WhatsApp before committing to a room, particularly when they want to ask about availability, room views or payment. Your website can make that conversation easy to start instead of forcing every visitor through a lengthy form.

Consider two hypothetical examples. A Lakeside hotel could place family-room details, cancellation terms and a WhatsApp enquiry button beside its room gallery. A Sarangkot property with sunrise-facing rooms could bring those views, access information and room availability enquiries together on one page. Both examples show how the website can answer practical guest questions before the booking conversation begins.

The aim is not to abandon OTA listings. It is to build a direct channel alongside them. AlpineRoot's website development services can help you choose a setup that fits your property, booking process and budget.

What AlpineRoot Builds for Pokhara Hotels

01

Direct Booking Integration

Guests can explore room types and send enquiries through a mobile-first website, and a WhatsApp contact button is part of every build. A booking enquiry route is scoped in discovery on any build, around how your team already handles reservations. Payment options such as Fonepay and eSewa are available as custom integrations on the Business WP Site, Advanced WP Site and Premium Website packages. International payment options are confirmed against your hotel's merchant eligibility before development.

02

Photography-Ready Design

Hotel website design depends on clear, well-cropped images, useful captions and room details that help guests understand what they are booking. AlpineRoot builds the site around your property's photography and can coordinate an add-on shoot through Laggyshutter, a Nepal-based ground photography and aerial drone team whose website AlpineRoot built. The photography is provided by Laggyshutter, not directly by AlpineRoot, and the shoot is quoted separately.

03

Search Setup for Hotel Sites

AlpineRoot builds hotel sites with SEO in mind. The website, WordPress and redesign packages include SEO work suited to their size, from basic SEO setup on the Basic Website to full SEO and analytics configuration on the Premium Website, and schema markup is offered to help search engines understand your property. No search position or booking result is promised.

Why Pokhara Hotels Work with AlpineRoot

AlpineRoot Technologies is based in Chandragiri-12, Kathmandu, and works with clients across Nepal, including remotely with businesses in Pokhara. The team builds websites with Next.js, Sanity CMS and Vercel, giving hotel staff a practical way to manage supported content updates after launch.

Local context matters when planning a hotel website. Your guests may be travelling internationally, booking from a mobile phone or asking questions through WhatsApp before confirming their stay. AlpineRoot plans the website around these behaviours, including domestic payment preferences, room information and the details guests need before making an enquiry.

The existing portfolio includes Dream International Travel & Tours, a tourism agency whose platform includes a custom booking and ticketing system, and Laggyshutter.com, a photography and drone business whose website AlpineRoot built. AlpineRoot has delivered more than 20 web development projects and more than 10 SEO projects across Australia, Nepal and the USA. The Laggyshutter partnership is available when a project needs professional property photography.

You communicate directly with the Nepal-based team through WhatsApp and email. You receive a reply within one business day, and free post-launch monitoring and support are included with every project. Kathmandu clients can also meet in person, while Pokhara projects are handled remotely. You do not need to route routine website discussions through an overseas development supplier.

How It Works

01

Discovery call

AlpineRoot speaks with the hotel owner by WhatsApp or Zoom, or in person for Kathmandu clients. The conversation covers the property, room types, target guests, current OTA bookings and what the website needs to do. Allow around 30 minutes.

02

Proposal

Within 2 to 3 working days, AlpineRoot sends a proposal covering the site structure, design direction, proposed timeline, the build package and any monthly plan, and confirmed pricing. You can review the scope before the build begins.

03

Build and content

AlpineRoot builds the website using the agreed structure. The hotel supplies room photographs, descriptions, prices and contact details. If professional photography is needed, AlpineRoot can coordinate a shoot with Laggyshutter. A typical build takes 2 to 4 weeks from the confirmed deposit, once the required content is supplied. A very large or complex build can take several months, including testing, depending on how much is built and how complex it is.

04

Review

You review a live staging version before the site launches and send changes through WhatsApp or email. Two rounds of revisions are included, and three on Premium Website, Advanced WP Site and Deluxe Redesign. One round means one combined list of changes. Further changes are quoted separately.

05

Launch and handover

The website goes live on your hotel's domain. If you already own a domain, you keep it; if you need a new one, registration is quoted separately. CMS training is included on every package that includes a CMS. Availability management depends on the functionality included in your chosen package.

Hotel Website Questions

Yes, a website gives you a direct booking channel alongside Booking.com. For bookings that shift to your site, you avoid the platform's commission, which can be around 15% depending on your agreement. Your website also gives guests a way to contact you directly and helps you build repeat guest relationships. Your OTA listings can keep bringing new guests while the website handles direct enquiries.
